PPG is an abbreviation for Pittsburgh Plate Glass, founded in the USA over 100 years ago. As the company grew, it was the largest manufacturer of flat sheet glass in the world for many years. Now a leading supplier for aviation glass as well as Automotive glass.

In NZ in 1998 PPG was successful in the acquisition of the then named ICI Autocolor business for Australia and New Zealand. As a result of this acquisition the Refinish market here in New Zealand has had the advantage of being able to lean on a true global supplier, in fact the only significant Refinish paint company here in NZ represented in there own right.
